We have reserved all the rooms in Hotel Zámek Štiřín for the night of the wedding (i.e. Saturday 28th May). We suggest that it is probably easier to stay at Štiřín for this night at least. It is also possible to stay at the hotel for longer and much of the wedding party will be at Štiřín for the 27th, 28th and 29th May. We have negotiated a discount with the hotel so we recommend booking these rooms through us. There are various levels of accommodation but, as a rough guide, a double room will cost between £60 and £85. (NB while most of the rooms are quoted as "doubles", most are two beds pushed together as is typical of Eastern Europe.)
However, for those guests wishing to stay in central Prague, we will provide transport back to Prague late in the evening after the wedding. We will also provide transport to Štiřín from central Prague on the morning of the wedding (the groom will be among those travelling at this time).
Although Štiřín is easier for the night of the wedding, if you would like to do any sightseeing around Prague either before or after the wedding (which we highly recommend), you will probably find it easier to stay in a more central location.
We have stayed at the following hotels in Prague over the past few years and would recommend them:-
U Medvídků A rustic hotel/pension centrally located in the Old Town. It also has a "traditional" beer hall style restaurant on the ground floor which serves good Czech food and lots of Budvar!
Andel's Hotel A 4* modern design hotel which is a little further from the centre but very easily accessible on the metro (3 stops to Wenceslas Square). Often has some good weekend offers via lastminute.com etc. (NB you are much more likely to get a proper "double" bed in a modern hotel such as this.)
Hotel Elysee A 3* comfortable, clean and modern hotel just off Wenceslas Square.
Hotel Expres Also centrally located (just around the corner from U Medvídků). A slightly cheaper option but not particularly recommended as somewhat basic. However, it does look as if it has been done up since we were there.
If you have a group wanting to stay centrally, there are also a number of apartments you can rent. Try http://www.apartments.cz/. You don't get breakfast with these but they tend to be cheaper as they're priced by apartment rather than per person and most have a kitchenette and lounge/living space. Some also have a maid service.
http://www.marys.cz/en/ may be a useful website to find hotel or apartment accommodation. We have used them before and they also provide airport transfers (for a fee).
Many of the hotels around the Old Town tend to be on the expensive side (around £80 a night for a double). There are some cheap options but often they involve shared bathrooms. It may be worth venturing a little further out, at least away from the Old Town, as accommodation can be much cheaper here. Don't let distance put you off as the metro system is very easy to use (only 3 lines) and it's also very cheap.
